They may be on a break but One Direction’s certifications keep rolling in! Their most recent single History has just reached platinum status in the UK after selling 600,000 copies since its release alongside the album back in November 2015.
With this new achievement, the band now have FOUR singles certified platinum within the United Kingdom. The track has also received a gold and platinum certification in Australia and New Zealand respectively.
There is no doubt that their farewell track means a lot to their large fan base, in fact, it wasn’t even meant to be a single in the first place! Infinity, a track from their album ‘Made In The A.M,’ was set to be the last single before their hiatus, but the fans banded together and encouraged the boys to make a slight change and start off their break with a bang by releasing the emotionally charged History instead — and they listened!
The moving music video, released in January still makes us a little teary eyed every time we watch it and we hope that the success for this incredible track keeps coming as there is certainly no group that deserves it more than One Direction!
