On Tuesday (September 19), Nick Jonas paid a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform and talk about his new single, ‘Find You’.

We’ve been playing the acoustic guitar-EDM bop on repeat since its release, although the lyrics have left us wondering just who Nick is trying to find during the song. Luckily, Ellen was on hand to ask the singer about the inspiration behind the track.

“I wrote this song—I was at Coachella with some friends and we were trying to find a stage that we wanted to go to and jam out to. I ended up at the rave tent for a few hours, dancing and having fun, much like the vibe here,” he said.

Not only did this inspire elements of the music video, but it gave Nick an idea for a new song almost immediately. “I went into the studio the next couple of days and said, what if I took a house beat and dance music approach but did it to a pop song,” Nick said.

Similarly to Demi Lovato’s newly released ‘You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore’, it seems that Nick is actually singing about himself rather than about anyone else. “It’s actually just as much about finding out who I am and being OK with myself first as it is about finding somebody. So, that’s the answer,” he continued.

During the chat, Nick also spoke about his recent 25th birthday celebrations. He revealed that he played a show at Angel Stadium after the baseball game, and hit a home run out of the stadium! Nick also celebrated in our favourite way, by getting tipsy at Disneyland. “We did kind of the adult Disneyland. That just means we drank some wine and had a good time,” Nick said. But how did the alcohol affect their ride experience?” Bad choice. I wouldn’t advise it. Didn’t end well,” he added.

In addition to releasing new music, Nick is busy with numerous movie projects including Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle and Ferdinand. He spoke to Ellen about a movie he is currently filming called Chaos Walking. Located in the French speaking Montreal, Nick tried to impress Ellen with his language skills, with the host on hand to give him some assistance.

The Ellen Show also marked Nick’s debut TV performance of ‘Find You’. The singer delivered a perfectly smooth performance, keeping things simple with his band. Check it out here.
