Melissa Lou Etheridge (born 29 May 1961) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and activist. Her self-titled debut album Melissa Etheridge was released in 1988 and has been an underground phenomenon. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 22, and her lead single, "Give Me Some Wine," earned her first nomination for Best Rock Vocal Performance by Etheridge, In 1993 Etheridge received her first Grammy award from her third album, Never Enough, for her song "Ain't It Hard." She released his commercial breakthrough album later that year, Yes I Am. His songs "I'm the Only One" and "Come to My House" both reached the top 30 in the U.S., and the latter earned her second Grammy award from Etheridge. Female.
