During his school days, he was a technical genius. He was a member of the Junior Engineering Technical Society and was even made the society’s zonal project manager.
In 1992, as a 13-year-old, he had met the first executive governor of Delta State to exhibit his designs of a hovercraft ship, radio transmitter, hairdryer, projector, electric solar table fan, and flying helicopter.
When he decided to pursue a career in comedy, he had chosen I Go Dye as his stage name due to its similarity to his surname Agoda. I Go Dye also stands for ‘Initiative Guide on Developing Youth Endowment’.
He had once stated in an interview that the numerous challenges he faced growing up in the rural settlements in Nigeria have motivated him to address some of those issues through his comedy.
While he was studying at Essi College, he had made an acquaintance with Otagware Onodjeyeke. The duo had started presenting mock news on Delta Broadcasting Service in 1994 through which they used to address several issues affecting the society.
A few months later, he was contracted as a stand-up comedian at the Prest Motel in Benin City. He used to earn ₦ 1,000 per show there.
His breakthrough came in 2000 when he was featured in Africa’s biggest comedy show – Night of A Thousand Laughs. He continued performing there for nearly a decade and the producer of the show had honored him as the most outstanding comedian on the show during that timespan.
He has promoted a project called Peace in Sight, which promotes harmony between various ethnic groups in Nigeria. This is in light of the Warri crisis, a series of riots and clashes between the Itsekiri and the Ijaw ethnic groups centered in the city of Warri between March and May 1997.
He had shot a 10-minute documentary film in 2004 for the United Nations and the government of Nigeria to promote peace and advocate for rural development.
In 2017, he had written an open letter titled Logic and Reason without Guns to mark the United Nations Youth Day.
