Although the official cause of Barry’s passing has not yet been disclosed, other stories claim that he passed away following a “short illness.”

After his passing on December 31, 2022, a flood of touching tributes appeared on social media.

Former Master champion Ian Woosnam’s tweet, “Very, very sad news…,” best captured how he felt. Goodbye, my friend.

Keith Pelley, the chief executive of DP World Tour, also released a statement in honor of Barry’s character and abilities.

The Canadian wrote, “We are deeply saddened to hear about Barry Lane’s passing.” Barry’s achievements on the European Tour and Legends Tour, which demonstrated his commitment to the sport, was lauded by the speaker.

Keith continued by expressing the condolences of the entire European Tour group to Barry’s wife Camilla, the rest of the Lane family, and his numerous friends in the golfing community.

What a dreadful way to start 2023, Ewan Murray wrote in a similar manner. Barry sent his best regards to “those he’s left behind way too early,” saying that “he was a joy to play golf with and the same to share his company.”

Robbie Fowler, a former footballer who currently plays for Liverpool, said about Rip Barry: “Rip Barry… an absolute legend of a bloke, will be sadly missed.”

Barry Douglas’s children and wife Camilla are still alive.

Barry Douglas Lane was raised in Bracknell despite being born in Hayes, Middlesex, England.

Barry began playing golf at age 14 and, at age 16, was hired as an assistant pro at Downshire Golf Club. He spent eight years working as a club assistant.

Last month, he and his wife Camilla traveled to Mauritius in an emotional vacation. The journey was made for the MCB Tour Championship, the final event of the Legends Tour.

Barry was able to say farewell to his friends and teammates before passing away, and he also gave Brazil’s Adilson Da Silva the Rookie of the Year trophy, which had been renamed in his honor.

Paul McGinley, a fellow player, claimed that despite being in very poor health, he was the “sweetest guy to the very end” and that his attendance “says a lot about his bravery and the close kinship and friendships we all form on tour.”

Elliot, Emma, and Benjamin, his children from his first marriage, as well as his wife Camilla, are left behind by Barry.

They have received the PGA’s sincere sympathies, along with those of his other family members and a large number of friends.
